BiPAD®, LLC formed to enhance ergonomics of the bipolar electrocautery forceps

BiPAD ®, LLC formed to develop the BiPAD® hand-switch for bipolar electrocautery into a commercial product.

We have invented a unique, ergonomic enhancement for a surgical instrument, the bipolar electrocautery forceps, used by most surgeons for the majority of surgeries performed worldwide.

We will provide surgeons with the first and only practical hand activated switch for bipolar electrocautery thereby liberating them from the foot pedal, reducing the time required to initiate electrocautery coagulation, eliminating the need for staff to crawl underl the operating table during surgery to reposition the foot pedal.

Without BiPAD®, surgeons are frequently distracted from the operative field by having to locate a non-stationary foot pedal.  The bipolar forceps is used for hemostasis and microsurgical dissection, activities from which a surgeon should not lose focus.

When a surgeon cannot locate the foot pedal, the operating room staff must crawl under the operating table, a non-sterile space.  The bipolar is utilized several hundred times per case and relocation of the foot pedal is required 2-4x per case.

Not surprisingly, more than 90% of surgeons and operating room staff surveyed

say that the BiPAD® hand switch will reduce blood loss, surgeon fatigue, staff exposure to infectious agents and the duration of surgery to such an extent that the device may be transformative.

Because BiPAD® integrated our removable, low-profile hand switch into the consumable cord used to connect the forceps to the generator, our product will enjoy recurrent sales and a durable market advantage over the standard cord which requires a foot pedal and sells at an equivalent price. (reference-x)

BiPAD®, LLC's goal is to leverage our intellectual property to capture this  $400M+ global ($85M USA) consumable cord market.
